A Message From The Mayor

My fellow residents,

On Sunday, March 22, 2020, in order to slow the infection rate of COVID-19, Governor DeWine issued a Stay At Home Order, closing all non-essential businesses and prohibiting gathers of any size.  This order goes into effect at 11:59P on 3/23 and remains in effect until April 6, 2020 at 11:59P.  The Governor has indicated that this order will be renewed if necessary.

The Village operates with a skeleton crew of staff – all existing employees of the Village of Clinton are essential personnel.  This includes our firefighter/EMTs, the street department, your elected officials, fiscal officer and the village secretary.  Village Hall remains closed to the public, but the phones will continue to be answered during our normal business hours on Tuesday, Thursday and Fridays.  If a tree falls, our street department will get it cleared.  If you need to call for emergency help, someone will respond.  Council will continue to meet to ensure the village operates smoothly.  Those meetings will be broadcast live.

Going to the grocery store or pharmacy, obtaining medical help, checking on your homebound neighbor to see if they require assistance and walking your pets are all deemed essential activities.  You may continue to do these things, while maintaining an appropriate physical distance from those around you.

Outdoor activity with your OWN family unit is encouraged – this should be limited to the people within your household who are staying at home with you, not extended family gatherings.  State parks and metro parks remain open at this time, however all playgrounds are closed – take advantage of the spring weather and get outside for a walk or a bike ride.

These orders were put in place to protect the safety of not only you, but your family, friends, and neighbors.  Don’t endanger those around you by thinking that your actions won’t impact anyone but yourself.

Stay safe, enjoy some sunshine (we can hope) and wash your hands!

Clarissa Allega
